Conquer It

Now that you have examined the story, the characters, and the point of view, you are going to tell “The Story of an Hour” from a character’s point of view.

You will be rewriting “The Story of an Hour” from the first-person point of view of Mrs. Louise Mallard. When writing your narrative, remember to use pronouns such as I or me. Also consider what the character might be thinking or feeling as she goes through the events of the story. We will know only Louise’s thoughts because she is telling the story. Make sure to add the events in the story, including the dialogue and actions of Josephine, Richards and Brently.

Using your own paper, write your narrative. When you have finished rewriting “The Story of an Hour” from the first-person point of view, submit your story to your teacher.
